In general PVD coatings, metal ions are emitted radially, making it difficult to form a ceramic protective film deep inside holes. diXis® overcomes this limitation by converting metal ions into a hight-density, parallel beam using electromagnetic coils enabling uniform thin-film formation on the inner surfaces of deep holes.
Powder sintering and cold forging processes use dies and punch presses, but coating the inner surfaces of these dies is typically challenging. With diXis®, inner-surface wear can be signigicantly reduced through effective coating treatment.
When targeting a film thickness of 3µm, diXis® achieves a film thickness distribution of 1.5~3µm in holes with length -to-diameter ratio(L/D) of 7 or less.
